Whether you’ve marched in this parade every year for the last 31 years, or this is your first time, we are very pleased to introduce an easier way to register your parade entry. We’ve taken the entire process online and have provide you with a quick and easy way to tell us all about your entry. Should you have any questions along the way, please don’t hesitate to shout. ROWELL RANCH RODEO PARADE RULES 2012

Thank you for participating in this year's parade. The Parade starts promptly at 10 A.M., SATURDAY, MAY 12, 2012

ENTRY INSTRUCTIONS:
- If you need to submit a hard copy, download it from the website; pick one up at Rowell Saddlery; or contact us to mail you one.
- To make subsequent changes/additions (whether online or hardcopy), please notify us by email ASAP and identify your entry by contact name and group entry name along with the changes.
- EACH VEHICLE (excluding Car Clubs) must register and pay as a separate entry.
- You will be notified of your number and receive a map indicating assigned staging area in the mail approximately 2 days before the parade or sooner. Entry number cards will be handed out at the assigned staging areas.
PARADE RULES

For the fun and safety of everyone, it is important to listen to our Marshalls and Parade Officials, and follow the rules. The Rowell Ranch Rodeo Parade Committee reserves the right to refuse any entrant's parade participation if the Parade Coordinator deems it in poor taste, obnoxious or illegal in any manner or misrepresents the conditions of the original acceptance.

ENTRIES MAY BE DISQUALIFIED AND/OR DENIED PARTICIPATION IN NEXT YEAR'S PARADE IF YOUR GROUP IS IDENTIFIED AS HAVING IGNORED THE FOLLOWING RULES AND REQUESTS:
1. ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ARE PROHIBITED
2. EQUESTRIAN entries must be ready for the pre-judging portion at 8:00am or will be judged as is and be penalized.
3. NON-EQUESTRIAN entries must be in lineup position by 8:45am. Norbrige closed at 8:45am and Late arrivals walk in.
4. Number card must be displayed on the FRONT, REVIEWING STAND side of the float, leader in the marching unit or leg/stirrup of mounted entrant. The reviewing stand side will shown on the Parade Map and may be subject to change.
5. All commercial entries should be decorated.
6. DECORATIONS for any entry must use flame retardant materials or chemically treated decorations.
7. NO SMOKING WHILE ON ROUTE. Motorized units must carry ABC fire extinguishers.
8. No open flames on or around floats or vehicles
9. THIS IS AN ALL-FORWARD MOTION PARADE. Performing groups should choreograph routines to maintain forward motion at the parade pace. No show cadences allowed. Any unit that stalls the parade will be given penalty points. Maximum of 1 minute will be allowed to perform in the 100' reviewing area.
10. ENTRIES WILL BE DISQUALIFIED FOR:
  - dropping back 50 feet from preceding entry, or closing in less than 25 feet;
  - not completing entire parade route;
  - throwing objects from float or vehicles, including candy;
  - shooting off firearms;
  - refusing to obey parade marshals, other parade officials or police;
  - entries must stay in their designated staging area until directed by the staging area manager.
11. Penalty Points for following violations:
  - 5 Delay of Parade
  - 5 Equestrian units arriving late for judging
  - 10 Unauthorized change of parade starting order
  - 10 Not finishing under starting power
  - 10 Non-compliance of forward motion throughout entire parade route.
12. ALL UNITS MUST PERFORM THROUGHOUT THE PARADE ROUTE and complete the entire parade route. Any time a unit is pulled off the parade route, it is to remain there until the end of the parade.
13. ENTRIES OR PARTICIPANTS INVOLVING VEHICLES OR ANIMALS must, at all times, maintain control of such vehicles or animals. For safety reasons, all people and animal on vehicles must be secure.
14. Car Clubs must drive 2-cars wide.
15. ANYONE UNDER EIGHTEEN YEARS OLD must be accompanied by a person eighteen years old or older.
16. UNITS WITH SOUND or unusual noise will maintain volume at a level low enough so as not to interfere with other units. No loud noise makers that could scare horses.
17. All Entrants shall comply with the Parade First Amendment Rights Guidelines.
18. The California State Horseman Association Rules will apply to all mounted entries.
19. California Drum and Drill Rules apply to all marching units.
20. American Legion Competitive Flag Code will apply to all color guards and/or flag lines.
21. Parade sanctioned by Parade Sponsors of Northern California, Inc.

I, the undersigned, hereby enclose my entry fee per Fee Schedule above payable to Rotary Club of Castro Valley and enter the Rowell Ranch Rodeo Parade at my own risk.

I acknowledge that parading involving horseback riding is an activity which carries inherent risks of injury and damage to myself, others, my vehicle or horse and property.

I KNOWINGLY ASSUME ALL RISKS, WHETHER KNOWN OR UNKNOWN, OF ENTERING THIS PARADE.

I release and hold harmless the Castro Valley Chamber of Commerce, the Rotary Club of Castro Valley, the California Horseman's Association, the Rowell Ranch Rodeo Association, Alameda county and all County Agencies and Organizations and their officers, the California Highway Patrol and its officers, Bay Area Rapid Transit and the employees and agents of of the above from any claim, cost demand, suit, loss, expense or liability occasioned by me, my horse(s) or, equipment, FOR ANY ACT OF NEGIGENCE OR WANT OR ORDINARY CARE ON THE PART OF ANY OF ORGANIZATIONS OR ANY OF THEIR AGENTS. In consideration of my participation in this event, I waive, release and discharge the above organizations, their directors, officers, agents and members, their representatives, heirs, executors and assigns from any and all claim or liability for injury or damage to myself, my animals or my property arising out of my participation; and I further release and hold harmless to the above said organizations and committees the use of any and all images, video or photographs in the parade for public review, promotional and advertising purposes. This agreement is binding on my executors, heirs and assigns.

I agree that I will defend, indemnify and hold harmless all named entities, its officers, directors, members and agents against all claims, demands, and causes of action, including court costs and actual attorneys fees, arising from any proceeding or lawsuit brought by or prosecuted for my benefit, in which this release is upheld.
